Regal recognises the importance of apprenticeships

Date: Friday, February 10, 2017

We are very pleased to announce that we have been nominated for the South and City College Birmingham's Mechanical Apprentice Employer of the Year!

To celebrate National Apprenticeships Week, South and City College Birmingham will be holding its Annual Apprenticeships Awards Dinner to recognise the achievements of young people and celebrate together how well they are doing in their chosen apprenticeship careers. They will also be recognising the commitment of local employers who employ young people and support the apprenticeship programme and we are thrilled to be up for an award.

Director Alison Clements said "As many of you will know the national minimum wage for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. However I felt upon review that a certain apprentice was working above and beyond and I almost feel paying this amount would be detrimental to what I believe he is capable of achieveing. Therefore I shall be offering £5.55 per hour as our priority here isn't about cheap labour; its about mentoring, supporting and training our new recruits to become the best possible plumbers which is why I believe we have been nominated for this award"

The award ceremony was held on Friday 10th March 2017 and we were delighted to be attending.

Complying with a specification is essential, however, understanding our client's requirements is just as important.
